My Musical Journey 🎶

Hi, I’m Kennyomar “Kenny” Garcia, the heart and hands behind KG Drums. My love for music started before I even understood what it meant—I was just a kid in Maracaibo, Venezuela, in the early ’90s, unknowingly stepping into a lifelong passion.

It all began when I was five years old with a toy Casio keyboard. I played by ear, figuring out some of my mom’s favorite songs. She was so amazed that she gifted me an accordion, hoping I’d share her love for Colombian vallenato music. That small moment of encouragement lit a fire in me that never burned out.

By the time I was nine, I was singing in my school’s choir, and at ten, I picked up my first string instrument—the Cuatro, a Venezuelan take on the ukulele. That soon led me to the acoustic guitar, and before long, my music teacher had me performing at birthday parties, playing percussion instruments like the güira and bongos. I quickly leveled up to congas and timbales.

At thirteen, my dad gave me my first electric guitar, and that was it—I was hooked. I started formal guitar lessons at a Yamaha store in my hometown, playing covers of Blink-182 and other punk bands with my friends. Those were some of the best years of my life, playing small concerts and feeling the rush of live music.

A calling to play the drums 🥁

At fourteen, I couldn’t afford a drum set, so I improvised—I raided my grandma’s kitchen pots and made my own. I’d spend hours drumming along to Blink-182, MxPx, Maná, and every band that fueled my passion for music.

Everything changed at fifteen when my mom took me to church. Seeing a real worship team and a full drum kit for the first time was life-changing. I knew I had to play. I asked the pastor if I could practice after school, and he said yes. For the next 9–10 months, I was in that church every single day, drumming for three to four hours straight. Less than a year later, I became their main drummer.

I’ve never stopped since.

Now, at 37, I’m finally sharing my passion with the world through KG Drums. This channel is my way of celebrating everything I love about drumming.

Thank you for being here. I hope you enjoy the music, feel the beats, and join me on this journey🥁🔥
